Conte said the measure was taken to protect citizens, especially the most vulnerable. Citizens across the country should not leave their homes except for work and emergencies. All public gatherings will be banned and all sporting events will be suspended.

According to the Italian Ministry of Emergency Civil Defense and the New Coronary Pneumonia Epidemic News Center, as of 00:00 on the 10th, Italy has added 1796 new cases of new coronary pneumonia in a single day, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases has increased to 9,220; 97 new deaths have been registered, and a total of 463 have died.
