Egan Bernal became the first Colombian to win the Tour de France 2019, after the 21st and final stage won by Australian Caleb Ewan, Sunday, July 28, on the Champs-Elysees in Paris.

At only 22 years and 6 months, the first South American to put his name on the charts, became the youngest winner of the Tour in a century. He continues the series of his team, the British Ineos (formerly Sky), who dominated the last editions.

In the final standings, Bernal precedes his teammate, Welshman Geraint Thomas, winner last year. The podium is completed for the first time by the Dutchman Steven Kruijswijk.

The other honors went to Peter Sagan, the Slovak who brought to Paris for the seventh time the green jersey points ranking (a record), and the French Romain Bardet, polka dot jersey of the best climber. As well as the Spanish team Movistar, winner of the team ranking.

In the 21st and last stage, 128 kilometers long between Rambouillet (Yvelines) and Paris, the peloton respected the tradition. Flute of champagne for the laureate and his teammates, photos-memories and quiet rhythm in the first part of the race, looks much more sustained afterwards when the peloton entered the final circuit (Km 72) after a spectacular passage by the court interior of the Louvre.

The Ineos team came in first but it was Spaniard Omar Fraile who drew the first one, on the threshold of the last 50 kilometers, followed by three other riders (Scully, then Politt and Tratnik). The peloton made the junction 12 kilometers from the finish with the last strongman (Tratnik).

In the sprint, Ewan climbed just before the line Dylan Groenewegen of the Netherlands. The 25-year-old Australian, who started the tour, has made his third success since leaving Brussels on July 6th.
