On the 23rd (local time), one day before the deadline for the nominations for the next Conservative Party leader and prime minister in the UK, it was reported that the unification of the candidates was unsuccessful.

As a result, it is highly likely that the results will be available on the 28th.

Britain's The Times reported on the same day that no unification agreement was reached during a meeting between the two leading candidates, former Prime Minister Boris Johnson and former Treasury Secretary Rishi Sunak, the night before.

Former Prime Minister Johnson told supporters this morning that he was the only democratically delegated candidate, emphasizing that he had won the national voters' recognition for winning the 2019 general election, The Times reported.

The Times said Johnson plans to hold further discussions with two other candidates.

As former Minister Sunak announced his candidacy this morning, it seems highly likely that the two candidates will compete.

"The UK is a great country, but we are in a serious economic crisis," Sunak said on Twitter.

Minority leader Penny Modont, far behind the two candidates, is the first to announce his candidacy and then reveal his will to finish.

So far, 129 lawmakers have publicly supported Sunak, according to The Times.

Not only was he the first to surpass 100 candidates, but he also outperformed former Prime Minister Johnson with 56 members Gigi and Modont with 23 members Gigi.

Johnson's side claims he already has more than 100 votes, but Sunak's side is skeptical.

The deadline to register for Prime Minister nominations is 2pm on the 24th.

A maximum of three candidates is possible, as the Conservative Party has 357 MPs and requires the support of at least 100 MPs to register.

If there is only one candidate, the result is immediately displayed.

If there are two candidates, a parliamentary vote is held in the afternoon and the results are announced at 6 PM.

However, this is only for ranking, not winning or losing.

With the results, candidates campaign for a televised election, and all Conservatives cast their votes online.

Voting for party members closes at 11 am on the 28th, and the next prime minister will be decided on the same day.

If there are three candidates, on the afternoon of the 24th, the minimum number of votes is dropped in the first round of voting to narrow the candidates to two, and the rankings are decided between the two candidates in the second round of voting.

The results of the second round of voting will come out at 9 pm, and the procedure thereafter is the same.

Former Prime Minister Johnson and former Secretary Sunak are expected to face a head-to-head in the party member vote.
