The chairman of the board of directors and first executive vice president of the Russian oil company Lukoil,

Ravil Maganov

, died after falling from the sixth floor window of a hospital in Moscow.

agency , had worked in Lukoil since 1993, shortly after the company was founded.

He oversaw its refining, production and exploration processes, becoming president in 2020. His brother Nail is the head of Russian oil company Tatneft. 

Ravil Maganov was a close associate of one of Lukoil's founders, Vagit Alekperov.

Alekperov, former Soviet oil deputy minister, stepped down as president of Lukoil in April, a week after the UK imposed an asset freeze and an entry ban on him as part of sanctions against Russian military actions in Ukraine.
