During the visit, His Highness discussed with the President of the Republic of Greece, Katrina Sakila Ropollo, the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and a number of officials in Greece, friendship relations and various paths of cooperation and joint work and ways to enhance and develop them, within the framework of the strategic partnership that unites the two countries.

His Highness and the Greek Prime Minister exchanged views on all events and the latest developments on the regional and international arenas of common interest, and in this context confirmed the consensus of visions between the UAE and Greece on many issues and files, especially with regard to working to find peaceful settlements to the conflicts and crises in the region. His Highness stressed the urgent need to enhance cooperation between countries to face common challenges and deal with their consequences in light of the increasing global challenges, especially at the level of economy, trade, food security and climate change.

His Highness expressed his thanks to the Greek Prime Minister for inviting the UAE to participate as the guest of honor of the 86th edition of the annual "Thessaloniki World Trade Fair", which will be held from 10 to 18 September 2022, and is considered the oldest international trade fair dating back to 1926, while the country is one of the oldest international trade fairs in the world. The UAE is the first Arab country to be invited to participate as a guest of honor for the exhibition, indicating that the country will participate in this exhibition with a delegation of more than 40 parties representing the public and private sectors, which embodies the depth of relations between the two countries, and the two sides' interest in developing and strengthening them.

During the meeting, His Highness the President of the State invited the Greek Prime Minister to attend the 28th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), to be held in the UAE during 2023.

In this regard, His Highness stressed that the UAE is continuing its commitment as an active partner to the international community in climate action, and looks forward to hosting the world at the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to achieve practical progress in confronting climate change, through a comprehensive approach that focuses on inclusion of all and providing logical and practical solutions that are feasible. The application to reduce the repercussions of climate change implemented through synergy and integration.

For his part, the Greek Prime Minister praised the great efforts made by the United Arab Emirates to maintain regional and international peace and security, and to spread tolerance and moderation.

He stressed his country's keenness to continue pushing the relations between the two countries to broader horizons of cooperation and joint action that serves their mutual interests and sustainable development efforts, and brings prosperity, security and stability to all the peoples of the region.

The two sides reviewed the latest developments of the joint investment fund announced by the two countries during the visit of the Greek Prime Minister to the UAE in May 2022, with a value of four billion euros, in addition to the outcomes of the “Emirati-Greek Business Forum” in which more than 50 Greek entities representing the public and private sectors participated. In addition to more than 20 leading Emirati companies representing various vital sectors, including energy, renewable energy, agriculture, real estate development and infrastructure, as well as health, agriculture, advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and others.

The two sides urged the private sector in the two countries to expedite the implementation of joint projects to achieve the objectives of the strategic partnership, and they discussed exploring more means to raise the level of trade exchange, and the importance of the role of the private sector in developing bilateral economic relations between the two friendly countries.

At the end of the meeting, His Highness the President and Prime Minister of Greece affirmed the common interest in strengthening the level of the Emirati-Greek bilateral relations, and diversifying the base of their ambitious strategic partnership in all areas on which sustainable development plans and diversifying the national economy of the two countries are based, noting their common human values ​​that contribute to In promoting coexistence, tolerance and cooperation among peoples in various circumstances, especially in times of crisis.

They stressed the importance of supporting all efforts aimed at reaching a political and peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis, based on the Gulf initiative, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue and relevant Security Council resolutions, and expressed the two countries' condemnation of terrorist groups and all their terrorist activities and attacks.
