Berlin (dpa / bb) - Several Berlin families started the year 2021 with particularly good news.

In the state-owned Vivantes clinics alone, several women gave birth to New Year's babies in the first hours after the turn of the year.

It all started with little James, who saw the light of day at 12:30 a.m. in the Vivantes Clinic in Friedrichshain.

By 10:00 a.m., another four newborns followed in the maternity ward of this clinic, according to a Vivantes spokeswoman for the German press agency.

Elsewhere, too, the delivery room was busy. At the Vivantes Klinikum Neukölln, the first baby was born at 1:12 a.m. A boy was born in the Kaulsdorf Clinic at 2:28 a.m., and a girl started at 3:36 a.m. at the Am Urban Clinic in Kreuzberg. In the Reinickendorfer Humboldt Clinic, a mother gave birth to a boy at 8:36 a.m. In contrast, the Auguste Viktoria Clinic in Schöneberg did not report a birth in the early morning hours.
