Grammy-nominated US rapper Nipsey Hussle has been shot dead. This was reported by several US media. The 33-year-old was killed in Los Angeles by several shots, wrote among others the "Los Angeles Times".

On Sunday afternoon, there was a shooting with a dead and two injured, the police said. Whether the dead person was Hussle was not confirmed by the authorities. The perpetrator is on the run.

Only hours before, Hussle had written in the short message service Twitter: "It's a blessing to have strong enemies."

Having strong enemies is a blessing.

The rapper was for a long time initially little known - until hip-hop mogul Jay-Z bought him 100 of his mixtapes for $ 100 each. In February, Hussle's first album "Victory Lap" was nominated for a Grammy for best rap album. Hussle lost to rapper Cardi B, who won the award for her album "Invasion Of Privacy".

Music colleagues expressed shocked by the death of the 33-year-olds. "Too soon gone," wrote rapper Snoop Dogg on Instagram. He was "sad" and remembered the good times that both would have had.

She was "shaken," wrote singer Rihanna on Instagram. That does not make sense. She posted a photo of the Grammy award for her message. It shows the rapper with his daughter Emani Asghedom.

The Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, responded in dismay to Hussles death and expressed sympathy. "LA is deeply struck deep every time a young life ends because of pointless gun violence," wrote Garcetti.

Hussle and everyone are touched by this awful tragedy. LA is hurt deeply. A young life is lost to senseless gun violence. My Crisis Response Team is assisting families with shock and grief.
