Kazakhstan removes Taliban from list of banned organizations

Earlier, Argentine President Javier Miley announced that he was working to include the Palestinian movement Hamas in list of terrorists. The Afghan Taliban is under UN sanctions for terrorist activities. The group is based in the country's capital city of Astana, capital of the Kazakh SSR, and the city of Tashkent in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Kazakhstan has decided to exclude the Taliban* from the list of organizations banned in the country, said the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic, Aibek Smadiyarov.


In an interview with the Kazinform news agency, he explained that the country's authorities are constantly auditing such a list in order to update it.

"According to UN Security Council resolutions... The Taliban movement is not included in the list of organizations recognized by the UN Security Council as terrorist," the representative of the diplomatic department said.

Smadiyarov noted that Kazakhstan will strictly adhere to the decisions and resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly.

Earlier, Argentine President Javier Miley announced that he was working to include the Palestinian movement Hamas in the list of terrorists.
