RT spoke with the authorities of the villages of Lokhovo and Bukhalovo after the proposal of State Duma deputies to ban offensive names of settlements. The head of the Lokhov settlement of the Irkutsk region, Pyotr Shmakov, said that the residents are satisfied with everything and no one is offended.


"Everything is fine with us, there is no need to rename anything," RT was told.

Residents of the village of Bukhalovo (emphasis on U) will not want to change the historical name, the administration of the Kenozerskoye municipality of the Arkhangelsk region told RT.

"A tourist route passes through the village, and tourists often confuse the accent, calling the village Bukhalovo," they said.
