Highlights: Moldova is preparing for an armed conflict with Russia, expert says. Russia considers Moldova to be the next Ukraine, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Russia is trying to create chaos in the world, he says, in order to maintain its control over the world. The Russian government is also trying to strengthen its military presence in the region, Lavrov says. The Moldovan government is preparing to fight back against Russia, the foreign minister says. It is also preparing to strengthen ties with NATO, he adds.

What Moldovan President Maia Sandu is doing now is preparing for an armed conflict with Russia, said Igor Shornikov, director of the Tiraspol Institute for Socio-Political Studies and Regional Development.

He expressed this opinion in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to Shornikov, one of Sandu's goals was initially to oust the Russian military presence from the region, and this was not hidden.

"But what it is doing now is Moldova's direct preparation for an armed conflict with Russia. All this fits into the global strategy of the decrepit hegemon – to multiply chaos and instability in order to maintain its control over the world," the expert is convinced.

He also noted that declaring Russia as the main threat to Moldova and fixing the strategic partnership with NATO members is not just a rejection of neutrality, but also an attempt to provide legal grounds for military actions against Russian peacekeepers.

Former president of the republic, head of the opposition Party of Socialists Igor Dodon also claims that the current government of Moldova has embarked on a course of militarization and deepening partnership with NATO.

As Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted, the West considers Moldova to be the next Ukraine.
