The course is called "Literature: Taylor's version" and involves the students using Swift's lyrics to draw parallels to older English literature. Last year, the Clive Davis Institute at New York University was the first to launch a course on the singer. It has been followed by several courses at various American universities, writes The Guardian. But the Belgian course is not the first of its kind.

During the autumn semester, the University of Ghent in Belgium offers a course in English literature based on Taylor Swift's song treasure. The course is called "Literature: Taylor's version" and involves the students using Swift's lyrics to draw parallels to older English literature.

Course coordinator Elly McCausland, who works as a research assistant at the university, is herself a true fan of Taylor Swift's music.

"I want to show the students that if older literature seems inaccessible, it can be good to look at it from a different perspective. Shakespeare, in a way, addressed a lot of the issues that Taylor Swift deals with in her songs today," she told The Guardian.
