The leader of the British House of Commons, Penny Mordaunt, refused to participate in the election of the Prime Minister of Great Britain and expressed support for another candidate, former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak.

She announced this on her Twitter.

“I fully support Rishi,” she wrote.

Mordaunt also thanked everyone who supported her.

On October 20, British Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation.

The next day, Mordont announced her intention to run for the post of leader of the Conservative Party and the country's prime minister.
