Senator, member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Olga Kovitidi, in an interview with RT, commented on the statement of the Ukrainian ambassador to the UK Vadim Prystaiko that Russia should return a third of the foreign property of the USSR.

According to the senator, the demands of the Ukrainian ambassador are "incorrect, do not comply with international law," and, therefore, "are not subject to satisfaction."

She also noted that Russia "paid all the debts, not only of the Soviet Union, but even of the tsarist empire."

“In 1993, Russia completely took on the entire debt burden of the Soviet state, and not one of the fraternal republics lent its shoulder in order to pay off these bills, and Russia inherited only huge debts ... In exchange for this, Russia gained control over certain allied assets and property,” Kovitidi said.

Earlier, the Ukrainian ambassador to the UK, Vadym Prystaiko, said that Russia should return a third of the foreign property of the USSR.
