Former commander of the North Caucasian military district Viktor Kazantsev dies

In Krasnodar, the former presidential envoy to the Southern Federal District, General Viktor Kazantsev, who also commanded the North Caucasus Military District, died. He was 75 years old, according to the press service of the Krasnodar Territory administration.


“Viktor Germanovich enjoyed well-deserved respect.

Over the years of service to the Fatherland, he has repeatedly demonstrated endurance, firmness of spirit, strength of character, readiness to take responsibility during the most difficult military operations, including in the North Caucasus, ”says the telegram of the Krasnodar Territory Governor Veniamin Kondratyev.

Kazantsev was born on February 22, 1946 in Belarus, he graduated from the Sverdlovsk Suvorov School, the Leningrad Higher Command School, the Military Academy named after M.V.

Frunze and the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

He held leading positions in Transcaucasia, Central Asia, Czechoslovakia and Transbaikalia.
