On September 14, Hero of Russia Viktor Kazantsev died in Krasnodar after a long illness. He was 75 years old. In 1999-2000, Kazantsev was the commander of the united group of forces in the North Caucasus, when the fight against terrorist groups was waged there. Later, he served as the first plenipotentiary representative of the President of Russia in the Southern Federal District. According to the press service of the Southern Military District, the farewell to Kazantsev will be held on September 16 in Krasnodar, he will be buried with military honors.
