Manchester City is about to enter the Champions League knockout round. Against Schachtar Donetsk, the team of Pep Guardiola 6: 0 (2: 0) won. The goals were scored by David Silva (13th minute), Gabriel Jesus, who scored three times (24th, 72nd, 90th + 2), Raheem Sterling (48th) and Riyad Mahrez (84th). The penalty goal for the 2: 0 of Jesus, however, was preceded by a catastrophic mistake of referee Viktor Kassai.

In the 23rd minute Fernandinho sent the started Sterling, who only had to push in front of the goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov, but kicked and fell in the ground. Defender Mykola Matvyenko ran in the scene over a meter away behind Sterling. Nevertheless, Kassai pointed to the point. Visibly shocked by the wrong decision, Schachtar took the converted penalty from Jesus.

Over the entire season, the Ukrainians brought only two shots on the gate of City. Even City did not show the expected offensive spectacle, shot only eight times on the gate of Schachtar. On the contrary, Manchester proved to be extremely effective in front of the goal: all four attempts at the opponent's goal in the second half ended up in the net.

In Group F, leaving the city is only theoretically possible. With six points ahead of third-placed Hoffenheim, both the Bundesliga club and Olympique Lyon would have to win the remaining two games - and City will both lose.

Viktoria Pilsen - Real Madrid 0: 5 (0: 4)

Real Madrid celebrated a 5-0 (4-0) victory at Viktoria Pilsen. For interim coach Santiago Solari it was the third success in the third game. Karim Benzema (21./37.) With a brace, Casemiro (23.) in the head, Gareth Bale (40.) and Toni Kroos (67.) met for the defending champion.

Kroos also prepared the first two Real matches and was thus for the first time in his career in a Champions League game involved in three goals. For Benzema it was the goals 200 and 201 in the jersey of the Royal. Real are now in front of the points-matched Roma (both 9) leaders, both teams are on eighth-final course.

Benfica Lisbon - Ajax Amsterdam 1: 1 (1: 0)

Four games, eight points - in the Bayern group, Ajax Amsterdam have a good chance of qualifying for the knockout round of the Champions League after beating Benfica 1-1 (1-0). Most recently, Ajax had been there in the 2005/2006 season. In Lisbon, Benfica took the lead through Jonas, while Amsterdam goalkeeper Andre Onana did not look well in that scene (29 '). But then the guests from the Netherlands took control. Frenkie de Jong made the equalizer on the foot, but shot past the empty net from two yards (45 '+ 3'). Dusan Tadic did a better job of equalizing after an hour.
