Champions League 2023/2024

With FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, the three most successful German teams of recent years have once again qualified for the Champions League. Union Berlin will be there for the first time. In Group C, the capital club will face the top European clubs Real Madrid and SSC Napoli, among others (here you can find an overview of all groups). However, the preliminary round matches of the Bundesliga clubs will not be shown on free TV. As in the past season, DAZN and Amazon share the broadcasting rights. Here you can find out where which games are shown.

How will the Champions League be divided?

The largest rights package for the 2023/2024 season was once again secured by DAZN. The streaming service will broadcast 121 of the 137 games live. The remaining 16 matches will be available to watch exclusively on Amazon Prime every Tuesday. Sky once again came away empty-handed, as did the public broadcasters. Only at the final on 1 June 2024 at the legendary Wembley Stadium was ZDF awarded the contract.

Who are the experts?

Mario Gomez is no longer part of Amazon Prime's team of experts. The former Bayern striker will concentrate fully on his role as technical director of Red Bull Soccer International. Instead, as in the previous year, Josephine Henning, Tabea Kemme and Matthias Sammer will analyse the games together with presenter Sebastian Hellmann. Jonas Friedrich and ex-Schalke player Benedikt Höwedes will be commentating on the games.

At DAZN, presenter Alex Schlüter will be joined by the two ex-national players Michael Ballack and Sami Khedira as experts. The encounters will be commented on by Marco Hagemann and Jan Platte, among others.

Who broadcasts the Europa League and Conference League?

The Europa League will be broadcast on free-to-air television. On RTL or Nitro, a match with German participation will be shown on each matchday. The final will take place on 22 May 2024 at the Avia Stadium in Dublin. The Conference League, on the other hand, will only be broadcast on RTL+. Fans of Eintracht Frankfurt will therefore have to take out a paid subscription to watch the games.
