Women's javelin thrower Haruka Kitaguchi, who has been selected to represent her Japan team at next year's Paris Olympics at the Diamond League, the world's highest athletics competition held in Belgium, won the championship with a mark of 67.38 meters, breaking her own Japan record, earning her third victory of the season.

Kitaguchi, who won the first gold medal in the women's Japan javelin throw at the World Championships in Athletics in August and was selected to represent the Japan team at next year's Paris Olympics, participated in the Diamond League Brussels Games, the world's highest athletics competition, held in Belgium on August 8.

Kitaguchi won the sixth and final round by throwing 8.6 meters, breaking his own Japan record by 34 centimeters, earning his third victory of the season and fifth overall in the Diamond League.

Kitaguchi qualified for the finals on September 67 and 38, where the top ranked players throughout the season will compete.

In the women's 3,5 meters, she finished third with a time of 9:16.17, beating her own Japan record set by Kimi Tanaka in qualifying for the World Championships in August by more than eight seconds.
