Already in the 15th minute, Japan took the lead in the eighth final against Norway. After a post from the left wing, Ingrid Syrstad Engen unhappily bumped in 1–0 in own goal.

Norway, however, were able to replicate barely five minutes later. Guro Reiten nodded in the equaliser after a precise post from Vilde Böe Risa.

The latter was also behind the next goal of the game. Unfortunately for Norway, this meant that Japan took the lead again.

Meets Sweden or USA

Böe Risa hit a misdirected pass in her own penalty area and Risa Shimizu snatched the ball before sending in 2–1. With less than ten minutes left to play, Hinata Miyazawa then set up the final score after a sharp counter-attack.

With the victory, Japan is ready for the quarter-finals. There you will face the winner from the eighth final between Sweden and the United States.
