Heat countermeasures (1) Cooling time

As a new measure against the heat, "cooling time" was introduced this year in which athletes take a 5-minute rest after the fifth inning.

Players can use this time to cool their bodies and replenish water by wearing ice vests with ice packs in the air-conditioned space behind the bench or using a neck cooler to cool their bodies.

Measures against the heat (2) 20 people on the bench

The number of players on the bench increased by two to 2 as the role of substitutes is increasing from the viewpoint of measures against the heat.

This is the first time in 20 years that the number of players on the bench has increased.

Summer: For the first time in four years, "All athletes march"

This time, it will be the first high school baseball tournament held at Koshien Stadium since the new coronavirus moved to Class 5, and various restrictions due to infection control measures will be relaxed and the original form will return.

Opening Ceremony Rehearsal (5th)

Since the spread of the new coronavirus, the opening ceremony of the spring and summer Koshien has been held on a reduced scale, such as limiting the number of participants, and last year, due to a series of new coronavirus infections among players from representative schools just before the start of the tournament, the format was changed to where only the captain participates.

For the first time in four years, all the athletes from the representative schools will march to the summer tournament.

Players and cheerleaders are what they should be

Players from opposing teams were allowed to shake hands after the game, and the winning team was allowed to sing the school song loudly, which had been called to refrain due to infection control measures.

Senbatsu High School Baseball Final

The school cheering squad is allowed to cheer aloud following this year's senbatsu, and wearing a mask is also at the discretion of the individual.

In Senbatsu, high-fives, shoulder to shoulder crossing, and gathering in one place, such as on the seats, when scoring a goal were allowed, and more powerful cheering pushed the baseball players' backs.

"Collecting soil" for the first time in four years

For the first time in four years, players were allowed to collect soil from Koshien Stadium after the game and take it home.

Since the spread of the new corona infection, until Senbatsu, each school was asked to refrain from replacing teams as soon as possible in a way that avoided contact.

In Koshien, the players of the defeated team gathered dirt from the ground in an impressive scene, and that scene will return.
