Media reports revealed that the Saudi team Al-Ahli made an official offer to Algerian player Riyad Mahrez, star of Manchester City, to join its ranks next season.

Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano explained that City wants a fee to allow Mahrez - whose contract expires in the summer of 2025 and earns about 8 million euros a year - to leave for the Saudi league, and will not agree to his departure for free.

The Union withdrew – according to Romano – from the race to contract him and now Al-Ahli, who climbed last season to the Saudi First Division is seriously trying to win his signature.

Mahrez, 32, who joined City in 2018, achieved the historic treble with the heavenly team last season.

Romano adds that negotiations between the two parties are continuing and will continue soon, and if the deal is completed, Mahrez will join stars who preceded him in the Saudi league, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante.

South African coach Pitso Mosimane terminated his contract with Al-Ahli, a few weeks after winning the title of the Saudi First Division (second division).

The South African coach signed a one-season contract with Al-Ahli, with the possibility of renewing for another season if promoted to the Saudi Professional League.
