In an interview with "Parisien", Adil Rami spoke about the semi-final between France and Morocco this Wednesday, December 14.

The 2018 world champion, Franco-Moroccan, shared his deep attachment to the Atlas Lions team.

He explains that he could have played with them very well if his destiny had not taken him to the France team.

The semi-final of the 2022 World Cup has never been so close... As the Blues prepare to face the Atlas Lions on Wednesday evening, Adil Rami, world champion in 2018, confided in the columns of the Parisian that he could very well have played for the Morocco team.

"Be patient and it will be the France team"

"I could have played for Morocco," he said.

"A long time ago, I had also been summoned by this selection and I had decided to accept. I, who had started at the bottom of the ladder, I thought it was a great reward. For me, it was a springboard because I was afraid of becoming a gardener again at the town hall of Fréjus. But Claude Puel, who was my coach in Lille, told me: 'You don't know your worth. Be patient and it will be the France'. And that's what happened. But at first it hurt me to refuse".

Gad Elmaleh has made his choice for the World Cup

"I would not like it to be said that Moroccans are against France"

Like many dual nationals, Adil Rami will be very divided on Wednesday evening watching the semi-final of the World Cup.

But, whether France wins or Morocco wins, the football player will be happy.

"I still have family in Morocco and I feel really Franco-Moroccan. I love my two countries. When Morocco wins, I share their joy. It's a pleasure," he explains.

Adil Rami then took advantage of his interview to appeal to the supporters: "I really hope that in the end there will be no incidents. I know that Moroccan supporters in the country or in France have a good mentality. The concern is that in France, as soon as there is a regrouping, there are thugs who come to let off steam and who don't care about the match. I wouldn't like people to say that Moroccans are against France," he said.

Adil Rami also says he is "amazed" by the sporting performance of the Atlas Lions, who eliminated the Portuguese in the quarter-finals.
