The Chinese Basketball Association announced on the evening of the 2nd that after the recommendation of the Final Review Committee and the approval of the Hall of Fame Committee, the 2022 Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame nominations have been confirmed.
Among them, 4 male athletes: Mu Tiezhu, Hu Weidong, Liu Yudong, Wang Zhizhi; 3 female athletes: Song Xiaobo, Cong Xuedi, Zheng Haixia; 2 coaches: Jiang Xingquan, Xu Limin (all sorted by birth date).
These 9 inductees will be entered into the 2022 China Basketball Hall of Fame together with 15 "special tributes" and the winners of the "New China Basketball Outstanding Contribution Award" ("Fifty Outstanding").
"Special tributes" are: Zhang Boling, Shu Hong, Dong Shouyi, Song Junfu, Tang Baokun, Mou Zuoyun, Zhang Zipei, Zhang Changlu, Yu Bangji, Yang Fulu, Cheng Shichun, Chen Wenbin, Bai Jinshen, Qian Chenghai, Yang Boyong.
The Chinese Basketball Association has actively promoted the construction of the Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame since 2021, and officially announced the establishment of the Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame in June this year.
The Chinese Basketball Association stated that the construction of the Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame is a long-term project that will lead the construction of Chinese basketball culture.
In the future, the scope of recommendation will cover athletes, coaches, referees, special contributors, pioneers and collectives.
According to reports, the recommendation activity consists of three stages: "nomination, recommendation and final review". Those who do not enter the next stage will automatically enter the corresponding recommendation list of the stage and sequence in the next recommendation activity.
In the 2022 nomination event, nearly 600 Chinese basketball players were eligible to be nominated, including 237 male athletes, 316 female athletes, and 45 coaches.
According to the relevant rules, in order to ensure the fairness of the nomination work for the Hall of Fame, the person in charge of the current Chinese Basketball Association is not included in the nomination.
Therefore, Yao Ming, who is currently the chairman of the Chinese Basketball Association, did not appear in the nomination list.
After nomination and selection in the first two stages, a list of 16 candidates will be produced.
The "Final Review Committee" recommends the final review list on the basis of the recommendation list.
According to the final review rules, each recommendee needs to be recommended by at least 2/3 of the committee members, and finally 9 people will enter the final review list.
On December 2, the final list was reviewed and approved by the China Basketball Hall of Fame Committee.
The Chinese Basketball Association revealed that in view of the current epidemic prevention and control situation, the entrance ceremony originally scheduled to be held in early December will be postponed to an appropriate time next year.
