Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving received a $ 25,000 ($ 22,000) fine Tuesday for throwing a ball into the stands in a tantrum, the NBA said in a statement.

The 26-year-old American rider threw the ball into the crowd after the Celtics' 115-107 loss to the Nuggets at the Denver Pepsi Center on Monday.

Irving expressed his anger after Nuggets leader Jamal Murray attempted a three-point shot at the very end of the game. A gesture that the Celtics player has interpreted as a lack of respect.

"The ball deserved to go into the crowd after a move like that, so I started it," Irving said later.

"The ball deserves to go into the crowd after a bullsh * t move like that, so I threw it in the crowd."

Kyrie Irving was not happy about Murray Jamal trying to score 50 at the buzzer.
