South Korean international footballer Lee Chang-min has been involved in a traffic accident that left one person dead and two seriously injured, local police said on Friday.

Lee Chang-min, 24, was driving his SUV when he crossed the center line to hit a car on the road on Monday on a Jetu road, officials said. A passenger in the staggered car, aged 68, died while the driver and another passenger were seriously injured.

Since then, Lee has been questioned several times. "He admitted to having crossed the median line, but it is confirmed that he was sober" at the time of the accident, said a police officer to AFP.

The latter, however, added that it was not clear whether Lee was not above the speed limit of 30 km / h on the narrow roads of the island.

Lee, a member of the 2016 Olympic team in Rio and has 7 caps, currently plays Jeju United in the South Korean Premier League.
