French international striker André-Pierre Gignac has extended his contract with the Monterrey Tigers for two years, until 2021, which he has been wearing since 2015, the Mexican club said Wednesday.

"Today, it is with great joy and passion that I can tell you that I stay at home! Let's continue writing the story together!" said the 32-year-old scorer on social media. "Mexico and its people, but especially my city, Monterrey, have welcomed me since day one with a lot of love and made me feel like I was at home ," he said.

The contract of the former player of Toulouse and Marseille expired in May 2019, at the end of the closing tournament of the Championship of Mexico.

Gignac is about to finish top scorer of the opening tournament, with 14 goals including two ahead of his pursuer, to a day of the end. But he will have the opportunity to leave an even stronger footprint in Monterrey: with 94 goals scored in three years, Gignac is within range of the club record held by the Mexican Tomas Boy (102).

Le Martégal has 36 caps with the Blues (7 goals), the last dating back to October 2016.
