The coach of Wales, Warren Gatland, decided Thursday to renew Anscombe, author of an excellent match last Saturday in the victory (21-10) on Scotland, in the absence of Biggar retained by his club. Northampton for this match against the XV thistles disputed outside the window of international tests of the fall.

New Zealand-born Welsh opener Gareth Anscombe was preferred to Dan Biggar to start the opening against Australia on Saturday in test-match at Cardiff (18:20 French).

Three Welsh side changes

The New Zealand coach made three changes in his starting lineup to face the Wallabies, who lost four of their six Rugby Championship games this summer, finishing third and penultimate. Pillar Tomas Francis, second row Adam Beard and winger Josh Adams will be titular, while Biggar will sit on the bench alongside Liam Williams and two co-captains of the summer tour Cory Hill and Ellis Jenkins.

"We wanted to have some continuity in the selection and consistency, keeping in mind that a number of players were really good this summer and that they must be rewarded and have the opportunity to play" said Gatland.

"There is a lot of quality and experience on the bench," added the coach who hopes that the substitutes will have "a Saturday impact . "

Four rotations for Wallabies

Wales hopes to extend its current winning streak to seven, but it remains on 13 test-match losses since 2008 against Australia, which will be in its group at the 2019 World Cup in Japan.

Side Wallabies, coach Michael Cheika has made four changes in his starting XV over the last game lost against New Zealand (37-20) in late October in Japan.

Adam Coleman, recovered from a groin injury, will start in second row and Jack Dempsey in third row. Still in the pack, the hooker Tolu Latu will start only for the second time, almost two years after his first start against France in November 2016.
