The Swiss judiciary has appointed a special prosecutor to investigate the ties between the president of the International Federation of Football (FIFA) and a prosecutor in the canton of Valais (South), which were revealed by the leakage of "Football Lakes".
According to a group of European media, Infantino gave "invitation cards" to the prosecutor of the Ho-Valle Reinaldo Arnold region in the 2018 World Cup, the 2016 FIFA General Assembly in Mexico and the 2016 Champions League final in Milan.
The prosecutor's office in the canton of Valais said that "he decided to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the facts accurately and determine whether to link them to the penal law."
During the investigation, Arnold will retain his post, the prosecutor's office said.
The leaks showed that in May 2016, Arnold sent an e-mail to Infantino saying, "Thank you very much for the UEFA Champions League final, my younger son will go with my wife."
