The FSB of Russia stopped the attempts of terrorists to use drones for terrorist attacks during the World Cup, said the director of the department, Alexander Bortnikov.
"The agencies of the Federal Security Service ... took all the necessary measures to detect and stop attempts to use the UAV by terrorists ... during the FIFA World Cup held in Russia," Rort Novosti quotes Bortnikov.
According to him, such attempts were made not only during the World Cup, but also during the preparation and holding of other mass political and sports events.
Bortnikov pointed to the danger of the uncontrolled proliferation of drones, which is fraught with their use for terrorist purposes.
Earlier it became known that the police were able to reveal the plan of attack on the home stadium of the Catalan Barcelona - Camp Nou.
