Australia's Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) on Friday was sentenced to a five-place penalty at the start of the Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix on Sunday for changing his turbo before the allowed limit.

Ricciardo was forced to retire from the Mexican GP two weeks ago for a clutch problem and the track marshals appear to have damaged his turbo when he evacuated his car, using their fire extinguishers.

The Perth native, who will join Renault next season, has dropped in four of the last seven races and was forced to leave the grid in Italy and Russia due to engine change penalties.
