In 2010, Nicolas Sarkozy, then President of the Republic, invited Tamim Al-Thani, then Prince of Qatar, to dinner. During this exchange, Nicolas Sarkozy proposed to the prince to buy the PSG and create a TV channel in France. In exchange, Michel Platini will help Qatar to win the 2022 World Cup.
Since then, the PSG has been bought by Qatar, BeIn Sport has integrated the French audiovisual landscape and Qatar has indeed obtained the organization of the World Cup 2022.
