Despite their three defeats in as many Europa League matches, Benoît Costil continues to believe in a possible qualification. Bordeaux, however, no longer has a joker and will have to make a big blow tomorrow against Zenit Saint-Petersburg.
"The odds are small but there are still some" said Benoît Costil, goalkeeper of Bordeaux, passed under the American flag on Tuesday and still without a point after three days of Europa League before the reception of Zenit St. Petersburg Thursday.
For this last-chance match, what will you rely on? The only precedent in the European Cup (editor's note, Newcastle had lost its first 3 games in 2002 before winning the next 3), the shape regain seen in Lyon (1-1), something else?
"We will rely on Lyon course, the consistent against Nice (0-1) even if there is the defeat, the first leg to Zenit (1-2) which was also interesting. It will have to do the same thing with something else at the end, because it takes victory, simply. We believe that it is not over, we will play until the end. The chances are minimal, but there are still some, so we will necessarily play hard because in case of bad results, we will not be in the competition next year.
Since the beginning of the event, you have been very close every time. What did you miss to tip the matches on your side?
" Good question. The first match (0-1 at Slavia Prague), we missed a lot of things, especially at the level of determination, all that we must put on the ground to make a result. On the next two (1-2 against Copenhagen and Zenit), it was really about details, with small errors, a lack of efficiency in both surfaces. The opponent has been more than us on both matches without being better than us in the game. European Cup matches are played on not much. So far, it has turned against us but tomorrow (Thursday), it will turn for us.
Have you jostled the Zenith on your way (1-2) to you uninhibited?
"That's what we said before we went there. We had to play uninhibited, with our qualities, even if we were aware that it was a very nice team opposite, with confidence and determination, too. We are convinced that we can win tomorrow. It's a very nice team, but we have arguments to jostle and win.
The change of owner at the head of the club disturbs you in your preparation?

"No, honestly. The discussions have not started recently, it's been a while since it discusses. I have always said, it has never been distracted or disturbed, we are focused on the field, the training of the week, the matches of the weekend. Now it's done, it's certainly a good thing, we focus on the field, we are not disturbed by this announcement.
