The Brazilian police will be charged with murder and coerced witnesses to the family involved in the murder of Sao Paulo midfielder Daniel Correa Freitas, official sources said.
Edison Breton Jr., the suspect for the murder, and his wife and two daughters, 18, will have to answer the charges after the authorities reviewed what happened on the night of the incident in the town of Sao Jose dos Pinillas.
Amadeo Trevesan, the town's district commander, said during a press conference that he was "sure" that the Brittes' family had "misled" the police during their testimony about the incident.
"They started their words with lies, they made up a novel, and amended it by putting pressure on witnesses," he said.
