Ukraine reports new Russian attacks on Kherson. Within 24 hours, at least four people were killed in the city in the south of the country. Nine other people were injured, regional governor Oleksander Prokudin said on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force said it had intercepted explosive drones launched by Russia.

The Russian army bombed "the city center of Kherson" during the night, Prokudin said on the online service Telegram. According to him, "a shell hit a residential building." An 87-year-old man and his 81-year-old wife were killed. Another resident suffered head trauma and leg injuries as a result of the explosion.

Rescue workers also discovered a body while clearing debris elsewhere in the city center of Kherson, the governor said. Within 24 hours, there were "at least four dead and nine injured, including a child" as a result of the Russian attacks on Kherson.

Several Russian explosive drones intercepted

"The Russian army hit residential areas in the region, medical facilities, an educational institution and important infrastructure in Kherson," Prokudin said. He did not provide further details on the extent of the property damage.

Kherson is located on the Dnipro River and has been the target of Russian attacks almost daily since the city was recaptured by Ukrainian troops in November 2022 after months of Russian occupation.

The Ukrainian Air Force, meanwhile, said on Sunday that it had intercepted 14 of 15 explosive drones launched by Russia during the night.
