Abu Obeida: Eliminating the resistance failed

Abu Obeida, military spokesman for the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, said Israel must stop its aggression and meet the demands of the Palestinian resistance for the release of its prisoners in Gaza.

Abu Obeida said – in a recorded speech obtained by Al Jazeera – that if Israel wants its prisoners alive, it has no choice but to stop the aggression, stressing that "the continuation of aggression does not allow the release of prisoners."

He pointed out in his short speech that the goal of the occupation to eliminate the resistance is doomed to failure, explaining that "the lost and crisis enemy has not learned from the experiences of history, and continues to repeat its follies and historical mistakes, because it is separate from the reality of our people and ignorant of its civilization."

Abu Obeida touched on the operations of the Qassam Brigades during the past week, where more than 15 successful sniper operations were carried out, and the number of occupation vehicles targeted since the start of the ground aggression reached 720.

US intelligence analysis points to Hamas' growing popularity since the Al-Aqsa flood (French)

Hamas Popularity

On the other hand, CNN said that a wave of new analysis conducted by US intelligence agencies warned that the credibility of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and its influence have increased sharply in the Middle East and beyond during the past two months since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on the seventh of last October.

The network quoted US officials as saying that Hamas succeeded in positioning itself in some parts of the Arab and Muslim world as a defender of the Palestinian cause and an effective fighter against the Israeli occupation, after it launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

A senior administration official also said that Hamas was not a very popular organization before October 7, but today it is more popular.

Call for the dissolution of the War Council

On the other hand, Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir called for the dissolution of the military cabinet, due to what he considered the failure of the war council to manage the battle on the Gaza Strip.

The war cabinet includes Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Galant, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, and ministers without portfolio Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot, which was formed on October 11 to run the war on the Gaza Strip.

Ben-Gvir, leader of the far-right Jewish Power party, said in a tweet on Platform X: "If anyone intends, God forbid, to stop the Israeli army before defeating the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and returning all the abductees, let him take into account that the Jewish power is not with him."

The issue of prisoners

On the issue of prisoner exchange between the Palestinian resistance and Israel, the American Axios website quoted Israeli officials as saying that Tel Aviv made an offer on a new prisoner exchange deal with Palestinian factions, and that it expects a response from Qatari mediators within a few days.

Israeli officials denied that talks were underway on the prisoner exchange, saying they had not actually begun.

In this context, Israeli media said that Hamas insists that the upcoming prisoner and detainee exchange deal include the release of three prominent Palestinian leaders from inside Israeli prisons: Marwan Barghouti, a member of the Central Committee of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah), Ahmed Saadat, Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and Abdullah Barghouti, a Hamas leader.

No evidence of tunnel entry from Shifa complex

A Washington Post investigation found that Israel's evidence falls short of showing that Hamas used Shifa Hospital as a command and control center.

The investigation added that none of the five buildings at Shifa Hospital identified by the Israeli military were connected to the tunnel network.

The investigation also confirmed that there is no evidence that the tunnels could be entered from inside the corridors of Al-Shifa Medical Complex.
