The poll shows growing opposition among Americans to Washington's support for Tel Aviv in its war on Gaza (French)

Politico published the results of an opinion poll showing growing American dissatisfaction with their country's support for Israel in its ongoing war on the Gaza Strip for a third month.

The results of the poll, conducted by Quinnibac University and released on Wednesday, showed that Americans' sympathy for Israel fell from 54% last November to 49% in December.

Support for sending more US military aid to Israel fell to 45% this month from 54% last month.

The decline comes as the Israeli military faces growing accusations of targeting civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The results showed that 58% of Democrats oppose providing more military aid to Israel, while the poll indicates that Republicans still support sending weapons to Tel Aviv for use in the war on Gaza.

Politico said Americans were divided over whether Israel's response was proportionate to the attacks by Hamas on Oct. 7, dubbed the Battle of the Al-Aqsa Flood.

In contrast to declining support for the support provided by the administration of President Joe Biden to Israel in its campaign in Gaza, 55% of respondents expressed support for continuing to supply weapons to Ukraine, 77% of Democrats supported it and 51% of Republicans opposed it.
