Retayo submitted her resignation after the French parliament approved a bill to tighten immigration. However, Macron rejected it.

"The Minister of Higher Education, Sylvie Retaillaux, submitted her resignation on Wednesday, December 20, but it was rejected by the Elysée Palace and the Matignon Palace," the statement said.

The new measure stipulates, among other things, the obligation of foreign students from non-EU member states to pay a security deposit before leaving France at the end of their studies. According to the radio station's source, Macron assured Retayo that this measure would be reviewed.

Earlier it became known that a rally against racism and tightening of immigration rules was held in Paris.
