The head of the Sovereignty Council and army commander in Sudan, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, vowed on Thursday evening to hold accountable all those who failed in what happened recently in the city of Wad Madani, the capital of the central state of Gezira state.

This came during a speech Burhan gave to army officers in Port Sudan in the east of the country, according to a statement by the Sovereignty Council.

The Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, nicknamed Hemedti, announced on December 18 / December, their control of the city of Wad Madani, after battles with an army force that lasted about 4 days.

The next day, the army announced that its forces had withdrawn from the city and that an investigation was underway into the reasons and circumstances that led to the withdrawal of troops from their positions.

Al-Burhan stressed that the armed forces will remain cohesive and strong, and Sudan's safety valve. He stressed the army, security and police are keen to eliminate the "rebel Rapid Support Militia". "Every negligent and negligent person will be held accountable, and there is no courtesy in that," he said.

"With the determination and determination of the armed forces and the Sudanese people, we will fight to defeat the rebel militia and its supporters from the political forces that seek to rule the country through the shreds of the Sudanese people," he said, addressing these parties, saying, "You will only rule Sudan through elections."

He stressed that anyone who cooperated with the RSF would pay the price for their cooperation.

Fighting continues

He urged not to pay attention to rumour-mongers that aim to question the armed forces and spread terror and fear in the hearts of citizens, he said.

The army will fight for the last soldier until the people of Sudan enjoy security and stability, he said, "and the armed forces will not fall".

At the same time, Burhan stressed the need to move forward with the negotiating process, adding: "We will not sign a peace agreement in which the Sudanese armed forces and people are humiliated, and there must be a ceasefire, and the rebels must leave public facilities, hospitals and citizens' homes."

Since mid-April, Sudan has been witnessing bloody battles between the army led by Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces led by Hemedti.
