In a government poll on the Senkaku Islands in Okinawa Prefecture, a total of 78% of respondents said they were "interested" or "somewhat interested" in the Senkaku Islands, the highest level since the survey began.

In order to explore public awareness of the Senkaku Islands in Okinawa Prefecture, the government conducted a public opinion survey of 9,10 people aged 18 and over nationwide from September to October, and received responses from 3000,55 people, or 1649%.

According to the survey, 78% of respondents answered that they were "interested" or "somewhat interested" in the Senkaku Islands, while 20% said they were "not interested" or "somewhat not interested."

The percentage of people who answered "interested" or "somewhat interested" increased by about 4 points compared to the previous survey four years ago, and was the highest level since the survey began in Heisei 13, although the survey method differed.

A representative of the Cabinet Secretariat said, "The Government has been promoting public relations and awareness-raising in order to raise interest in the situation surrounding territorial and sovereignty, and we will continue to work to strengthen communication so that an accurate understanding of Japan's position will be disseminated."
