Tatars are moving to submit a bill to confront foreign Jews' buying of real estate in his country (Anatolia)

With fears growing about the rise in the number of properties purchased by Israeli Jews in his country, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, has instructed all concerned institutions to be cautious and follow appropriate measures, to reduce the risk of heavy Jewish demand for real estate in his country.

Tatar said on Thursday that his government began holding high-level security meetings on working to prevent any danger that may pose to the plans of some foreign countries on the national security of the state, stressing the seriousness of these schemes and that they will harm their survival unless confronted thoughtfully and effectively, as he put it.

The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus indicated that the government intends in the coming days to submit a draft to Parliament containing amendments to the number and area of land that foreigners can own on the island, as the current law allows the resident foreigner to own 5 dunams other than houses and houses.

This came at a workshop organized by the Council of World Journalists between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, within the framework of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Last week, Turkish media revealed that Jews have bought land and housing units exaggerated in recent years in northern Turkish Cyprus, buying an estimated 25,<> acres of land and a large number of housing units at exorbitant prices, which they considered a "silent occupation."

For his part, Turkish Ambassador to Turkish Northern Cyprus Metin Fayzoglu said that Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan Hakan is in constant contact with the Turkish Northern Cyprus government on this issue, and that Turkey is working side by side with it to monitor changes on the island and develop appropriate and quick solutions.

Fayezoglu stressed the need to diagnose and prevent the problem by taking appropriate measures, and pointed to the need to work on reforming the existing laws, after it was noticed that some foreigners circumvented the law, taking advantage of its gaps, in order to buy as much land and residential houses as possible.

Israeli businessmen tend to pay exorbitant sums of money to the island's citizens to convince them to buy land and houses in their own names, in exchange for guarantees that Jews will be able to use these properties legally later.

Jews also circumvent state laws by buying land and homes in the name of companies in Turkish Northern Cyprus, belonging to Jews with European or even Cypriot citizenship, thereby concealing the names of companies, their owners, and the lawyers conducting transactions in a secret manner.

It is noteworthy that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is an independent state recognized only by Turkey and is built on 35% of the area of the island of Cyprus, which includes another recognized independent state and a member of the United Nations and the European Union, the Republic of Cyprus with its capital Nicosia, and is built on 65% of the rest of the island.
