Colleague Samer Abu Daqqa was martyred Friday by Israeli shelling on Khan Yunis (Al Jazeera)

Al Jazeera has decided to urgently refer the assassination of its cameraman Samer Abu Daqqa to the International Criminal Court.

It said in a statement that it had formed a group comprising a team from the network and legal experts to prepare the Abu Daqqa assassination file to be submitted to the criminal court. She added that the legal file will include repeated attacks on the network's crews operating in the Palestinian territories.

Abu Daqqa's body was laid to rest on Saturday in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

On Friday, the occupation bombed the Al-Jazeera team in Khan Yunis, which led to the death of photographer Abu Daqqa and the wounding of fellow reporter Wael Al-Dahdouh.

The occupation prevented the ambulance from reaching Samer Abu Daqqa, where he stayed for hours bleeding before becoming a martyr.

It is noteworthy that our colleague Wael Al-Dahdouh lost his wife and some of his children in a bombing launched by the Israeli occupation on the family home last October.
