According to the investigation, at the end of April 2023, two residents of Melitopol, born in 1975 and 2003, entered into a criminal conspiracy to murder the deputy head of the police of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Zaporozhye region in connection with the performance of his official duties.

She planned to kill the policeman with the help of an RGD-5 hand fragmentation grenade and a remote fuse. To purchase the grenade, the defendants turned to their acquaintance (their names and surnames are not disclosed).

"On the morning of May 2, 2023, at the gate of a residential building on Pirogov Street in the city of Melitopol, the defendants planted an improvised explosive device, which was detonated when the deputy head of the Russian Main Directorate of Internal Affairs for the Zaporizhzhia region opened the gate on his way to work," the report says, which also clarifies that the policeman was injured and taken to the hospital.

Persons accused of committing crimes under Part 3 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, transfer or carrying of explosives or explosive devices) and Article 317 of the Criminal Code (attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer) are held in custody. The criminal case has been sent to court.
