Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Monday that an agreement had been reached to extend the truce between Israel and Hamas for two more days.
Qatar, along with Egypt, has been the key mediator in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The announcement comes on the final day of a four-day truce between the warring sides.
Hamas said today that it is preparing a new list of hostages held in the Gaza Strip who may be released "to prolong the truce" with Israel, according to a statement from the Islamist movement.
The statement, citing senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan, coincided with discussions on an extension of the ceasefire, which took effect Friday for an initial four-day period and includes exchanging hostages for Palestinian prisoners.
