The water tower in Bastuträsk burned down at the beginning of November. After the fire, the water was cloudy and smelled of smoke. Samples were taken before it was possible to release again. But the samples showed too high levels of iron and manganese.

"As long as the samples are not complete, we don't dare to say that it is safe to drink," says Norsjö municipality's communicator, Sofie From.

Since then, the residents of Basturäsk have had to collect their drinking water from a cart provided by the municipality.

"Now we've started to wonder why it doesn't get started," says Zandelie Hellgren, a parent of young children.

She is critical of the fact that the information from the municipality has been too inadequate.

"I can understand that, because the water affects everyone. But reaching everyone is very difficult," says communications officer Sofie Frohm.

The municipality is waiting for new test results, which may come next week.
