This statement was made by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, responding to the words of Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen.
The Finnish minister previously noted that Finland has a "free civil society" that has a "strong desire to help Ukrainians in this defensive battle."
"As for 'free civil society', no one in Finland asks for it. What kind of free society is it if its opinion is not taken into account when making the most important decisions for the people and the country? Or did I miss something, and there was a referendum on Finland's accession to NATO?" said Zakharova.
On November 17, the Ministry of Defense of Finland announced the allocation of a new military aid package to Ukraine in the amount of about €100 million.
