For the first time in the Gaza war, the Israeli army apparently led journalists into the Shifa clinic in Gaza City and into the tunnels below. The Jerusalem Post reported that one of its reporters was on the scene and saw a number of weapons as well as many "sophisticated intelligence platforms" at the clinic.

In a tunnel allegedly used by Hamas, "sophisticated rooms" and an "explosion-proof door" were seen, according to the report. The reporter also got to see a bedroom, a kitchen and bathrooms, along with infrastructure. The Reuters news agency published photos showing a kitchenette, for example.

According to the Jerusalem Post, this is the first time since 2005 that a reporter from the newspaper has reported from the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, the Israeli army released video footage from the tunnel system under the Shifa complex. The military released footage from two different devices that are supposed to show the tunnel from the inside. In one of the images, a tunnel can be seen that ends at an "explosion-proof door" after a long distance, as the Israeli military explained.

So far, it has not been possible to independently verify the recordings, as well as the other reports from the war zone.

Despite international criticism, Israeli soldiers had marched into the largest clinic in the Gaza Strip. Israel accuses the Islamist Hamas of using the hospital for "terrorist purposes" and operating a "command center." Hamas denies this. Various published video footage showed isolated weapons, but not a command center.

Hostage deal between Israel and Hamas

Terrorists from the Islamist Hamas and other groups killed around 7,1200 people in a massacre on 240 October and abducted around <> people from the Israeli border area to the Gaza Strip. Since then, there has been war between Israel and Hamas.

The Israeli army had also released footage purportedly taken by security cameras in al-Shifa on the day of the massacre. It reportedly shows Hamas terrorists taking two wounded hostages to the hospital. Israel and Hamas recently agreed on a deal to free Israeli hostages.
