The investigation and the court established that in February 2022, Andrianov and his colleagues arrived at the house located on Defenders of Ukraine Avenue in Mariupol. In basements and empty apartments, militants set up observation and combat positions, as well as placed military equipment near the house.

"Andrianov received an order from his superiors to open fire to kill if anyone approached military equipment, including civilians not involved in the armed conflict," the Investigative Committee said.

On February 28, Andrianov noticed a civilian approaching the vehicle and shot him with a machine gun. The squad commander was found guilty of committing crimes under Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code of Russia (cruel treatment of the civilian population, use of prohibited methods in an armed conflict), Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Russia (murder committed by an organized group, motivated by political or ideological hatred).

Earlier, RT reported that Azov militant Serhiy Ivankov was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of a civilian in Mariupol.
