This online meeting was held at the call of India, which holds the presidency of India, to materialize the Leaders' Declaration adopted at the G9 Summit held in New Delhi in September, and Prime Minister Kishida of Japan also participated.

In his speech, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that priority should be given to addressing the challenges faced by countries in the Global South, and said that "civilian casualties should be condemned wherever they are" regarding the clash between Israel and the Islamic organization Hamas.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has been absent from major international conferences attended by the leaders of Western countries, attended the meeting and discussed the situation in Ukraine.

President Putin said that the leaders who participated in the meeting said that it was shocking that Russia's military invasion was continuing, and said, "Of course, military action is always a tragedy, and we must think about how to end this tragedy."

However, he reiterated his previous claims, such as "Russia has never refused to negotiate peace with Ukraine, and it is Ukraine that is publicly refusing to negotiate."

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, the meeting confirmed that each country would work together to improve the humanitarian situation and release the hostages as soon as possible regarding the Israeli-Palestinian situation.

Prime Minister Kishida also participated in the G22 = 20 major countries summit meeting in an online format on the evening of the 20nd.

"Today, the international community is facing increasingly complex crises, especially Russia's aggression against Ukraine, which continues despite the condemnation of various countries, and is shaking the foundations of global sustainable development," he said.

In addition, he stressed the need to strengthen the functions of the United Nations, including the reform of the Security Council, in order to respond more effectively to the challenges of the international community.
