The Wall Street Journal published an article by two members of the Israeli parliament "Knesset" calling on Western countries to welcome those who wish to emigrate and resettle from Gaza, claiming that their invitation is for humanitarian reasons.

Authors Danny Danon, a senior Likud member of the Knesset, who served as Israel's ambassador to the United Nations from 2015 to 2020, and Ben Barak, a Knesset member for Yair Lapid's Yesh Atid party in the Knesset, who served as deputy director of the Mossad, from 2009 to 2011, said that Europe and the United States had previously accepted the resettlement of millions who fled previous wars in the world.

Emptying Palestine of Palestinians

Israel has a higher strategy aimed at emptying Gaza and the West Bank of their Palestinian populations, and extremists and so-called moderates are no different. The invitation of MPs Danone and Ben Barak seems to feed into this strategy.

The two MPs justified their call by saying that the attack by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on October 7 put more than two million people living in the Gaza Strip at risk.

Last month, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling on all parties to allow the provision of "continuous, adequate and unhindered" essential supplies and services to the Gaza Strip, but as the war continues, UN resolutions do nothing concrete to help the people of Gaza, and it is essential that the world explore possible solutions to help besieged civilians.

An invitation to all countries of the world

They added that they propose that countries around the world accept "limited numbers of Gazan families who have expressed a desire to move elsewhere."

Given the long history of Europe, America and others in helping refugees fleeing conflict, countries around the world must provide sanctuary to Gazans seeking resettlement.

They explained that a handful of countries around the world are needed to share the responsibility of hosting the people of Gaza. Even if countries take in at least 10,<> people each, it will help ease the crisis.

The international community is faced with a moral imperative, an opportunity to show empathy and help the people of Gaza move towards a more prosperous future and work together to achieve greater peace and stability in the Middle East.
