"Vladimir Putin thanked Egypt for its comprehensive assistance in the evacuation of Russian citizens from the Gaza Strip," the Kremlin said.

Both sides expressed concern about the "unprecedented increase in civilian casualties" in the Gaza Strip.

"The fundamental importance of an early cessation of bloodshed, the release of hostages and the unhindered provision of humanitarian assistance to the civilian population of Gaza was emphasized," Putin's press service added.

Cairo said earlier that Putin discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip with al-Sisi during a telephone conversation.

On November 14, the Russian Emergencies Ministry, carrying the second group of evacuated Russians from the Gaza Strip, took off from the Arab Republic of Egypt.

On November 13, a plane of the Ministry of Emergency Situations flew to Moscow with the first 70 Russians evacuated from Gaza.
